As per instruction received from Embassy of Spain, "Checklist" needs to be duly filled in by the Applicant/Travel Agent/Authorized representative and needs to submit along with the Visa Application. Please note it's mandatory to provide the same and is applicable for all Nigeria.

The consular administration has full authority to evaluate, and request for more documents than those submitted by the applicant. The latter is hereby informed that submitting the aforementioned documents does NOT guarantee automatic issuance of the visa. Original documents will not be returned until the conclusion of the procedure.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH PHOTOCOPY OF ALL ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE MADE AND BROUGHT ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS FOR SUBMISSION.

TWO COLOUR PHOTOCOPIES OF THE PASSPORT DATA PAGES SHOULD BE MADE AS WELL AS COLOUR PHOTOCOPIES OF ALL VISAS OBTAINED WITHIN THE LAST THREE YEARS HOWEVER, DO NOT MAKE PHOTOCOPIES OF BANK STATEMENTS EXCEPT IF SAME BANK STATEMENTS ARE BEING USED BY GROUP OF APPLICANTS OR SAME FAMILIES

APPLICATION FORM: Application for Schengen Visa. Application form should either be filled with blue or black pen or type-filled.

Original Application form for Schengen Visa duly filled in and signed by the applicant in blue or black ball point ink. 2 recent photographs (35-45 mm) of the applicant with white background must be attached in the application form. The application form must be correctly filled, facilitating all the possible information requested in the form including postal address, email address and telephone number. Please note with effect from 01 April 13, Embassy of Spain has instructed that Sworn Declaration is mandatory to be provided along Visa Application form at the time of submission.

The application should be submitted personally at the BLS International Services centre

Passport of the applicant with at least 3 blank pages, which should be valid for at least three months after the duration of intended stay. This document should have been issued in the last Five (5) years.

Two recent photographs of the applicant with white background. Face must be bold in the photographs.

Invitation Letters of Spanish companies must be addressed to the Consulate General of Spain in Lagos, they must be written in Spanish and must be sent to the applicant by Courier Service. Applicants must also to include an original Invitation Letter along with their applications. Photocopies and scans are not accepted.

In the Invitation Letter the Spanish company must state the reason behind the invitation, the personal data of the guests (name and surname, passport number, expedition and expiration dates, etc.), the kind of trade relations and its antiquity, and so on. Moreover the Spanish company must take charge of the welfare of the guests and of the immigration liabilities. It is also very advisable that the Spanish company submits, simultaneously, the Invitation Letter in Word or PDF format to cog.lagos.vis@maec.es.

Proof of commercial relations with the inviting company (original Bills of Lading, custom clearance documents, etc.). It is also advisable to provide hotel bills, money exchange receipts, boarding passes, etc., as proof of previous trips to Spain.

All original documents of the Nigerian company that is sending you on the business trip (Certificate of Incorporation or Registration, Memorandum of Articles of Association, Tax Clearance Certificate, etc.)

Proof of Income. Applicants shall present documents indicating that they possess sufficient means of subsistence both for the duration of the intended stay and for the return to his country of origin or residence.

If employee: Letter of Appointment, Leave Letter, Salary Slips of the last 6 month, Bank Statement of the last 6 months where your salary comes in, Bank Statements of other accounts.

If you are a businessman/businesswoman: All original documents relating to the Company (Certificate of Incorporation or Registration, Memorandum of Articles of Association, Tax Clearance Certificate, etc.), Bank Statements of the last 6 months (personal and business).

Covering letter from the applicant, explaining in detail the purpose of the visit. All cover letters must include details of any other accompanying persons as well. This includes business associates traveling for the same purpose.

ORIGINAL PERSONAL BANK STATEMENTS of the applicant for last six (6) months is required for submission at the Consulate General of Spain, Nigeria with the original stamp and signature of authorized signatory of the bank (Online Bank statements without original stamp and signature are not acceptable).This is a mandatory statement.

Salary slips for last three months.

Proof of travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros to cover any expense which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and /or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States. The duration of the insurance cover must include the entire period of stay and additionally fifteen days more after the proposed date of departure out of the Schengen territory.

Applicants are informed that travel medical insurance issued only by Nigerian insurance companies would be accepted for visa procedures. However, visa applicants may seek to obtain insurance in any other country where claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen state.

Flight bookings. Applicants are strongly advised not to purchase tickets before their applicationis processed. A flight booking is enough for presentation. Applicants must include the flights between Spain and other countries. If applicants intend to travel to different Spanish and Schengen cities they also have to include train booking, bus booking, etc.

Any other document that the applicant may consider appropriate to support his/her application.
Authorization form signed in original by the applicant, in favour of BLS International Services
• To submit the application on behalf of the applicant.
• To receive any notification issued by the Embassy of Spain/Consulate General of Spain.
• To collect the passport on behalf of the applicant.
• In case of minors, this form must be signed by both the parents.

If the applicant is not a national of Nigeria, his/her legal residence in the country (Residence permit) will be required.

For Family visa applications applicants are requested to submit proof of family relations with the principal applicant as an additional document with the visa application, for example

For Spouse - Marriage certificate
For Children - Birth certificate

For Minors between 0-17 years old traveling only with one progenitor, it is compulsory an Affidavit (legalized by Nigeria Foreign Affairs Ministry) from the other progenitor allowing them to travel together with a passport ID page copy of both parents.

BLS International will accept the photocopy as well as original of the document after verifying the document at the time of submission.

With regards to the documents submitted with the visa application such as the Marriage certificate and Birth certificate of family visa applications, documents only in English language or translated to Spanish will be acceptable for all files.

Kindly note that if the documents are in any regional language, they must be translated to English or Spanish by any language institute with official stamp and signature of the translation institute/agency.

Documents in regional languages such as Marriage certificate and Birth certificate will not be acceptable.

Required documents for all visa categories
Please note the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa:
6 months valid passport from the date of applying for Spanish visa is mandatory. Please note that the Consulate General of Spain does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have a blank page to which a visa can be affixed, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.

Required Travel Insurance
A Travel medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Spain and other Schengen states. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euros and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons.

The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

The company issuing the insurance can be based anywhere but preferably you should use a company base in your home country or the country you are travelling to. The Embassy must assess whether the company is solid or not. For this purpose all Schengen Missions in Nigeria have compiled a list of trusted companies.

Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control

An application MUST be lodged at least 15 working days before the intended visit and cannot be lodged earlier than TWELVE WEEKS before the start of the intended visit. It is an applicant’s own responsibility to take the necessary precautions in relation to the processing time, deadlines, etc.

Please note that possession of a Schengen visa does NOT guarantee entry into a Schengen state, and no rights can be derived from the information obtained in the general Schengen visa information.
